This is example of the experiment we done to show that solids can change their state and turn into a liquid.
Materials:
- Crayons
- Thick paper or Bristol Board
- Hair dryer
- Markers or other writing tools
- Crazy glue or hot glue gun
- Using crazy glue or a hot glue gun to stick the crayons you want to use at the top of the paper of choice
- Use the hair dryer to melt the crayons
- after you have melted the crayons to your liking, let the paper cool down, allowing the crayon wax to cool and harden.
- while doing this activity, explain to the students what is happening along the way, and why this is connected to the unit.
We had so much fun seeing the different colors run down the page and create art while learning an outcome!

I love this craft! Its great how you tied it in with teaching solids and liquids.
ReplyDeleteI have done this craft before. The children love it and are often engaged.
